Gail Elder White, CPRP is currently the Director of the Salisbury Parks and Recreation Department in North Carolina, where she has served for 14 years. A 27-year veteran in the field, she has also served as an Assistant Director with Mecklenburg County, NC and as a Recreation Supervisor with New Castle County, DE.
A graduate of the University of Delaware, Gail continued her education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in Municipal Administration and the University of Virginia Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service in Leadership Development. An active professional, Gail has served at the state and national levels including the NRPA Board of Trustees, the NRPA Executive Committee, the APRS Board of Directors, the National Certification Board, and served as a member of the original Aquatic Section Board. She is currently serving on the NRPA Congress Program Committee. She has also served as Chair of the Mid-Atlantic Regional Council, President of the Delaware Recreation and Park Association and numerous committees in the North Carolina Recreation and Park Association.
In 2000 the Salisbury Parks and Recreation Department became the 2nd Accredited Parks and Recreation Department in North Carolina and 27th in the Nation. The department was re-accredited in 2005 and is re currently preparing for the 10 year re-accreditation in 2010.
Gail serves as a guest lecturer at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and serves on the Professional Advisory Board for the University. She speaks frequently at the State, Regional and National levels with an emphasis on Performance Management, Certification and Municipal Finance. She was a Regent and past chair of the Supervisor Management School at Oglebay. [updated 12/09]
