Kirk Kincannon

Kirk Kincannon CPRP, is the Executive Director of the Fairfax County Park Authority; serving prior as Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Boulder, Colorado; Director and Deputy Director of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities for the City of Alexandria, Virginia; and Director of Parks and Recreation for Wythe County, Virginia as well as in earlier positions in Fairfax County and Herndon, Virginia. Kirk has led agencies to multiple national and state awards including: the Governor’s Environmental Excellence Award, NACPRO Award in the Environmental / Conservation, NRPA Barb King Environmental Stewardship Award and Excellence in Inclusion Award. Kirk has served on multiple boards and committees over the years related to Tourism, Economic Development, Park Foundations, the United Way, the National Recreation and Park Association State Affiliates Board, and the Virginia Recreation and Park Society. Kirk is well-known by his colleagues for his collaboration and leadership and his ability to engage with staff, colleagues, the community and political leaders. Kirk is a Fellow in the Urban Land Institute Washington DC region and holds a BA in Recreation and Leisure Services, and Physical Education from Virginia Wesleyan College. [updated 05/2017]
