Carrie A. Fullerton, CPRE has over 20+ years of diverse experience in the field of parks and recreation, and currently serves as the Executive Director of the Bloomingdale Park District.
She has also served as the Director of Parks and Recreation for the Village of Hinsdale, Superintendent of Special Facilities for the Wheaton Park District, as Division Manager of Facilities for the Schaumburg Park District, as the Adult Education/Recreation Coordinator for the Wheaton Park District, and as a facility manager/program supervisor for four different facilities with the Schaumburg Park District.
Carrie holds both Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Leisure Studies (now known as the Department of Recreation, Sport and Tourism) from the University of Illinois with an emphasis on program management and administration. She also holds an Associates Degree in Cardiac Technology.
In 2010 Carrie served as Chair of the Board on the Illinois Park and Recreation Association Board of Directors (IPRA). She has served as Chair of the NRPA National Revenue School held in Wheeling, West Virginia and as the Young Professional Extern for the American Academy of Park and Recreation Administration, and as the President of the University of Illinois Department of Recreation, Sport and Tourism Alumni Advisory Board. Additionally, she served as the Chair of the LERN Recreation Council.
She has been named as the “Professional of the Year” by the Illinois Park and Recreation Association (2014) and “Outstanding Professional of the Year” by the National Recreation and Park Association’s Great Lakes Region (2009) and “Professional of the Year” by the IPRA Facility Management Section (2005). In 2012 Aquatics International Magazine recognized Carrie as one of the “Power 25” leaders in our industry. She also served as the 2012-2013 President of the Bloomingdale-Roselle Rotary Club and an Assistant Governor in Rotary District 6440.
Carrie frequently speaks at state and national conferences and has authored articles for several parks and recreation related publications. Carrie is an active member of SPRA, IPRA, and NRPA. She resides with her husband Paul and their four children in Wheaton, IL. [August 2015]
