Brian Albright is the Director of Parks and Recreation for the County of San Diego. Previously he served as Parks and Recreation Director for the City of Carlsbad and earlier in his career as Chief of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities for the City of Alexandria, Virginia. Before his career in local government Brian served with the U.S. Foreign Commercial Service.
Brian oversees one of the largest and most diverse regional park systems in the nation. San Diego County’s park system covers 50,000 acres of parkland, 350 miles of trails, and 125 regional and community parks that include campgrounds, preserves, lakes and lagoons, historic sites, sports complexes, and major special event venues. The County of San Diego is the first county park system in the State of California to receive national accreditation.
Brian holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Westmont College and a MBA degree in International Finance from American University. He is a Certified Parks and Recreation Executive through the National Recreation and Parks Association. [August 2015]
