Charles F. Connington began his career in recreation and parks as a Recreation Supervisor in 1974 and is presently the Superintendent of Recreation and Parks for a community of 83,000 people. He has been instrumental for many park improvements since 1992 and is the administrator of over 100 different recreational programs, three community centers, three pool complexes, a 562 acre park system, a central warehouse, and 12 senior citizen clubs. In 1999 he was elected as a fellow of the American Academy for Parks and Recreation Administration. He has served in the following organizations: MARC Chairman of the National Recreation and Parks Association; Treasurer of the New York State Recreation and Parks Society; President of the Hudson Valley Leisure Services Association and President of the Congers-Valley Cottage Rotary. In 1989 he was voted Rotarian of the Year. His honors include: Professional Achievement Award (HVLSA), Game Time Award (HVLSA), Distinguished Service Award (MARC), Professional Member Scholarship named in his honor (yearly) - HVLSA and in 1991 was awarded Special Fellow Citation or Distinguished Service from the National Recreation and Parks Association. He is also credited with the development of the Town Recreation and Parks Mascot "The Rec Rascal" and has an article written entitled: "Life, Be In It. Serendipity Saturday." Additionally, he was a High School teacher of Health and Physical Education and coached both football and basketball from 1970 to 1974.
