Dr. Terry Schwartz was previously the Executive Director of the Winnetka Park District. During his four years as ED the park district completed nearly $20 Million in capital improvements to several recreation venues and support structures.
Prior to that, he served as a Deputy Director of Citywide Services for the City of San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department. As Deputy Director he was responsible for all destination facilities operated by the City including: Candlestick Park, nine pools, three Arts Facilities, Camp Mather, four golf course maintenance operations, including the site for the 2009 President’s Cup, Harding Park, turf management of all athletic fields, athletic field use and associated programs, Kezar and Boxer stadiums, all athletic programs, senior programs, adaptive recreation, and Permits and Reservations.
He also served as a professor in the Recreation, Parks and Tourism Departments at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Western Illinois University and San Francisco State University and taught and studied in areas such as research methods, entrepreneurial leisure, athletic facility management, and tourism.
As a consultant he conducted strategic planning for over 25 park and recreation organizations across the United States.
Earlier in his profession he enjoyed a distinguished career as the Executive Director of the Glen Ellyn Park District and the South Barrington Park District, Revenue Facilities Superintendent of the Arlington Heights Park District, and Superintendent of Recreation for the Champaign Park District and the City of Alton, IL.
