Jason Anselment

Jason Anselment is the General Counsel for the Illinois Association of Park Districts, which he joined in 2010. As the contact for legal questions by members and their counsel, Jason has provided thousands of legal and legislative consultations. As the association liaison to the General Assembly, he has worked to pass 33 out of 34 (97%) bills the association introduced.

Jason also serves as liaison to the IAPD/IPRA Joint Legislative Committee, which establishes a legislative platform and promotes positive legislation for parks, recreation, and conservation. Jason has delivered more than 50 legal presentations and authored more than 75 articles on legal and legislative issues affecting local government agencies.

Jason graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Illinois College of Law in 2001. His professional experience includes serving as Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Springfield, Illinois, and in private practice for several years. He has successfully argued cases before federal and state appellate courts and tried numerous cases in state and federal trial courts.

Jason graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.S. in Business and a B.A. in Social Sciences with teacher certification from Eastern Illinois University and held numerous leadership positions including Student Body President and charter student trustee on the Board of Trustees. Recently, Jason served five years on the EIU Foundation Board of Directors, including as President and Treasurer.

Jason currently serves as the Secretary of the Friends of Illinois Parks Foundation and is on the boards of the Illinois Parks Association Risk Services and American Public Entity Excess Pool. He is a member of the NRPA, American Society of Association Executives, and Illinois State Bar Association. He served for three years as Vice President of the Illinois Government Bar Association and for 13 years on the Pastoral Council at his church.
