Dr. Lynn M. Jamieson (CPRP) is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Recreation and Park Administration at Indiana University. She was also formerly Professor and Coordinator of the Recreation Administration Program at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, California and coordinated its initial AALR/SPRE accreditation program. Prior to receiving her doctorate, Dr. Jamieson served in various administrative levels over 12 years in Santa Ynez Valley Recreation Program (CA), Corpus Christi Park and Recreation Department (TX), San Diego Recreation Department (CA), and Johnson County Park and Recreation District (KS).
Jamieson received her Re.D. in Recreation, a Master of Science degree in Recreation, and a Master of Science in Physical Education from Indiana University, as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Physical Education from Muskingum College in New Concord, Ohio. She received an outstanding Alumni Award from the Division of Recreational Sports in recognition of her contributions and achievements in the field of recreational sports.
Jamieson has been a presenter on a variety of subjects including: Toward a Theoretical Framework of Recreational Sports, Tourism as a Revitalization Tool, Commercial Recreation Business Planning, Governmental Policy on Sport and Leisure, Sport and Violence, The Manager and the Future, Youth at Risk and Intervention, Entrepreneurship in the Leisure Industry, Parks and Tourism Linkage, Academic Climate, The Role of Law Enforcement in Youth Crime Intervention, Tourism and Commercial Recreation Research Directions and many other similar topics. She has authored or co-authored over 50 articles in several journals and has been a co-author in eight textbooks.
She served as President of the Society of Park and Recreation Educators (1994-95), was on the SPRE Board of Directors (1991-93), and has served on the CPRP Examination Committee, SPRE Fieldwork Committee, SPRE Teaching Effectiveness Committee to name a few. She also served on the Board of Directors for the American Association of Leisure and Recreation is a member of the American Leisure Academy.
She served in various leadership capacities in Texas Recreation and Park Society (Personnel Policies Committee) Kansas Recreation Park Association (Secretary), California Park and Recreation Society (President, Cal-SPRE; President, Commercial Recreation Section; Board of Directors, CPRS), Indiana Park and Recreation Association (Chair, Long-Range Planning Committee). In addition, she is an Accreditation Visitor and has served as a chair and member of over 10 visitation committees.
Dr. Jamieson has also been listed in Outstanding Young Women of America, the Who’s Who Registry of Business Leaders, and is currently being listed in the Who’s Who among Academic Leaders.
Dr. Jamieson is married to Stephen A. Wolter, and they have two children, Byron (20) and Ben (13). She enjoys walking, biking, theatre, reading, and anything that involves travel.
