Dina Trunzo, CTRS served as Administrator of Leisure Services and Manager of Therapeutic Recreation at Somerset County Park Commission, NJ. Her senior level experience in county government includes organizational leadership, program development, strategic planning, facility operations, and event management.
Dina was part of the NJ delegation at the NRPA Legislative Forum for a dozen years. As a member of the NJRPA Public Affairs Committee, she has been active in seeking support for legislation. She was co-chair of the committee for the licensure of recreational therapists in NJ. The legislation passed and the Governor appointed her to serve on the licensing board representing RT profession.
Dina served on NRPA and NTRS boards and committees, including National Awards committee (Chair, 2007), Public Policy, National Forum, Mid-Atlantic Regional Council, and the NTRS Board of Directors. Dina is an active member of NJRPA serving as President and Vice President. She has been the chair of the Annual Conference Program Committee since 1989. Dina is active in strategic planning and resource development.
She is the recipient of numerous awards including the NJRPA Award for Administrative Excellence; NJ Governor’s Advocacy and Distinguished Service; Somerset County Disability Advocate; and NRPA/NTRS Member of the Year. Dina was an Adjunct Professor at Kean University mentoring interns throughout their fieldwork experience. She is a member of the Rutgers University Youth Sports Research Council Advisory Committee and has contributed to manuscripts on Working with Athletes with Disabilities.
Dina has presented many educational sessions on ADA compliance, inclusion, and disability awareness training. Dina also presented at the World Leisure Congress in Italy on Supporting the Right to Leisure for Persons with Disabilities.
Dina enjoys “glamping” with her husband, relaxing at the beach, going to concerts, being a dog mom to Ranger, is an avid Clemson football fan, and loves sharing laughs with friends.
