Member Biography


Becky Benná

Becky Benná has led the City of Glendale, Arizona Parks and Recreation Department since April 2005. Her nationally accredited department provides comprehensive park and recreation services to a growing community of over 250,000 residents. Prior to joining Glendale, she worked for the city of Miamisburg, Ohio, where as Director, she led a nationally accredited parks and recreation department. She also has worked for the cities of Phoenix and Scottsdale, Arizona, and Kettering, Ohio parks and recreation departments.

Becky served as a board member for the American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration and is a current member of the Academy. She also has served as a member on the National Recreation and Park Association Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies, Congress Program Committee, International Committee and National Forum; and she is a faculty member of the NRPA Director’s School. Becky has served as President of the NRPA Council of State Affiliate Presidents, President of the NRPA National Aquatics Council, and Chairperson of the NRPA National Aquatics Management School and the NRPA National Professional Certification Board. Other past leadership roles include President of the Ohio Parks and Recreation Association, Past-Chairperson and a Trustee for the National Institute of Golf Management, Chairperson and Regent for the Business Institute for Park, Recreation and Leisure Services.

Becky holds a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Education with an emphasis in Recreation Administration. She is a graduate of the Revenue Sources Management School, National Institute of Golf Management, and Leadership Ohio. She is also a past recipient of the NRPA Robert W. Crawford Outstanding Young Professional Award and NRPA Pacific Southwest Young Professional Award. [updated October 2010].
